Líder indígena aimara. En el siglo XVIII encabezó junto a Túpac Katari una rebelión contra el dominio colonial español en el Alto Perú. Organizó miles de indígenas y campesinos que reclamaban el fin del sistema de explotación colonial y la recuperación de las tierras que les habían sido expropiadas. Fue capturada, torturada y asesinada por la colonia española. Su figura es símbolo de resistencia indígena y feminista en América Latina y en su memoria se conmemora el Día Internacional de la Mujer Indígena.

In XVIII Century, the Amariyan Indigenous leader Bartolina along with Túpac Katari led a rebellion against the Spanish colonial rule in Upper Peru. She organised thousands of indigenous people and peasants who demanded an end to the colonial exploitation and the recovery of the lands that had been expropriated from them. She was captured and killed by Spanish colonialists. Bartolina Sisa is a symbol of indigenous and feminist resistance in Latin America and the International Day of Indigenous Women is commemorated in her memory.
