National Communication Course of the Comunera Union

The Comunera Union held its First National Communication Course from August 28 to 30 at the Tatuy TV headquarters in Mérida.

The event brought together 20 participants, most of whom were communications spokespersons from municipalities across the country. At the meeting, those responsible for the Union of Municipalities’ communications efforts at the national level reviewed the work carried out so far and drew up a schedule of activities through the end of the year.

In terms of the curriculum, the course sought to emphasize both the conceptual and technical aspects of various areas of communication. There were workshops on social media management, writing, audiovisual production, and graphic design, with the latter led by César Mosquera, a member of Utopix.

In his first presentation, Mosquera shared some basic principles of graphic design with the participants. The goal was to introduce concepts and terminology, as well as to identify common mistakes in this field. The Utopix designer also introduced some free software programs.

The second presentation focused on the Canva software and the use of templates for the Community Union’s various communication initiatives, including thematic campaigns, commemorations of special occasions, and activity reports, among others.

The Unión Comunera is a platform that seeks to bring together communities and other grassroots organizations to strengthen popular power in Venezuela. It held its founding congress in March 2022.
